For too long, I (and probably many others) have been living with the idea that it’s too darn hard and time consuming to build software, and that we’re doing something fundamentally wrong. Software development is becoming increasingly complex.
That being so much the case that, giving the example of web application development, you now have a front end developer, and a back end developer. And even those are becoming increasingly specialised.
This was of course just web application development. This no doubt applies to any kind of software development, which could and probably should be a much bigger discussion but I prefer not to debate this here.
Anyway… Right now, there are many libraries, frameworks and IDEs out there already. But none of the ones I have seen so far really come close to the ideas I have been inspired by and been sitting on over the years.
The goal of this blog is to gather and share my thoughts as well as report any progress I’ve made while attempting to build a prototype for a new software development platform.
The project will be driven by combining the principles of crowd coding with RAD (Rapid Application Development). I have no idea whether it will succeed or fail or just end up implementing and settling on a small part or what I wanted to do.
The first prototype will be mostly a learning experience. But the knowledge gained and hopefully all the data can be migrated into the next one.
